Egypt U-17 team advances despite tough loss to England

In the latest round of the FIFA U-17 World Cup in Qatar, Egypt’s young footballers suffered a difficult 3-0 defeat against England.

England’s Regan Heskey led the charge, scoring twice, while Egypt’s goalkeeper Omar Abdelaziz managed to save a penalty, showing great promise despite the setback. England sealed their win with a third goal by Harrison Miles as the game closed.

Though Egypt’s total points remained at four, dropping them to third in Group E, they secured their passage to the knockout stage as one of the top eight third-placed finishers. Venezuela led the group after beating Haiti, followed by England.

Egypt started the match cautiously, trying to contain England’s physicality. Injuries and defensive errors added to their difficulties. Despite some attacking intent, Egypt couldn’t convert chances, with shots from Bilal Atiya and Omar Kamal being denied or ruled offside.

The second half saw Egypt increase their pressure, but England scored again after speedy counter-attacks. While the match ended in disappointment and frustration for the young Pharoahs, Omar Abdelaziz’s saves earned him recognition as Egypt’s standout player. The boys now look toward the next stage, eager for redemption.
