Egypt to wear red against South Africa in Cairo friendly

Egypt will wear their traditional red kit when they face South Africa in a friendly at Cairo Stadium.

The Pharaohs will play in red shirts, black shorts and black socks, while South Africa will wear green shirts with white shorts and white socks.

The kit decisions were confirmed at the pre-match technical meeting ahead of the fixture.

The match follows Egypt’s opening two games in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. They began with a goalless draw against Angola at Cairo Stadium before beating South Sudan 5-0 in the second round.

Egypt have also received a boost with Ahmed Fattouh returning to full team training on the eve of the match.

Fattouh suffered a thigh bruise during the 5-0 win over South Sudan and had subsequently completed a rehabilitation programme. He took part in the team’s training session after recovering from the injury.

A total of 22 players participated in the session.

However, head coach Hossam Hassan, in consultation with the medical staff, decided to rest Haitham Hassan for the game against South Africa.
