Egypt star Mohamed Elneny joins Greek outfit Levadiakos after Al Jazira exit

Egypt international Mohamed Elneny has returned to European football after completing a move to Greek club Levadiakos following his departure from UAE side Al Jazira.

The experienced midfielder joins Levadiakos as a free agent after ending his contract with Al Jazira following the conclusion of last season.

Elneny spent time with Al Jazira after leaving European football, making approximately 58 appearances for the UAE club and contributing seven goals during his spell.

The move to Greece now gives the 34-year-old another opportunity to continue his career in Europe, having already gained extensive experience in several major leagues.

Elneny began his senior career with Egyptian club Al Mokawloon Al Arab before moving to Europe, where he represented Swiss side Basel.

His performances at Basel eventually earned him a move to Arsenal, where he spent several seasons and became an important squad player under different managers.

The midfielder also had a spell in Turkey with Besiktas before returning to Arsenal and later making the move to Al Jazira.

At international level, Elneny has been a long-standing figure for Egypt, earning 103 caps for the Pharaohs.

The former Egypt captain has now begun a new chapter in Greece and is eager to get started with Levadiakos.

Speaking directly to the club’s supporters after completing the move, Elneny expressed his excitement about joining the Greek side.

“Hello everyone, I have signed with the Greek club Levadiakos, I am very happy to start my career here,” Elneny said.

“I hope things go well, I will do my best for this team, Levadiakos fans, see you in the next match.”

The former Egypt captain also made it clear that he is looking forward to getting onto the pitch and beginning his latest challenge.

“I am very excited to start my career with the club,” he concluded.

With his experience at club and international level, Elneny now adds another European chapter to a career that has taken him from Egypt to Switzerland, England, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates and now Greece.
