The Ministry of Youth and Sports in Egypt has addressed growing confusion surrounding the postponement of club elections, following recent amendments to the Sports Law approved by parliament.
In a clear and firm statement on Friday, the ministry dismissed claims that it had postponed general assemblies for a full year.
“We would like to point out that the Ministry of Youth and Sports has not issued any decisions to postpone the holding of general assemblies. All sports bodies must adhere to the provisions of the law and regulations issued in this regard,” the statement read.
“After the law’s final approval, executive decisions will be made for the transitional provisions that are appropriate to this situation, and the legal conditions for that will be determined.”
“We are committed to providing the media with all the information and data that will clarify the next steps for all the paths that will achieve complete stability for all sports bodies, in light of the provisions of the law and executive decisions.”
