The Libyan Football Federation held a special draw on Tuesday to decide where this season’s Cup and Super Cup finals would be played.
With both Al Ahli Tripoli and Al Ahli Benghazi set for the showdowns, clubs were invited to suggest locations, Al Ahli Tripoli chose Tunisia, while Al Ahli Benghazi requested Egypt. Ultimately, after the draw and in the interest of technology and strong fan presence, Egypt was chosen to host both high-stakes games.
Competition rules usually place the Cup Final in the city of the Libyan FA and the Super Cup at the league champion’s stadium, but the Federation has the flexibility for broader benefit. This year, the clubs wanted the matches outside Libya, prioritizing VAR access and larger crowds. Plans are now advancing alongside the Egyptian FA as administrative details are finalized.
Final dates depend on Libya’s performance at the Arab Cup in Qatar: If Libya progresses, the window is December 10–21; if not, games may be held earlier, from December 1–6.
The duels feature an Egyptian coaching rivalry as Hossam El Badry leads Al Ahli Tripoli and Tarek Mostafa manages Al Ahli Benghazi, making it a notable chapter in Libyan football.
