The Pharaohs of Egypt have officially booked their place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup after a dominant 3-0 victory over Djibouti on Wednesday afternoon.
The Group A encounter, played at the Stade Larbi Zaouli in Casablanca, saw the seven-time Africa Cup of Nations champions take full control from start to finish, leaving Djibouti with no response to their attacking brilliance.
Egypt wasted no time asserting their authority, opening the scoring just eight minutes into the match when Ibrahim Adel converted a fine assist from Zizo. Six minutes later, captain Mohamed Salah, despite a quiet run of form at Liverpool, doubled the lead with a composed finish after being teed up by Trezeguet.
Holding a comfortable 2-0 lead at halftime, the Pharaohs maintained their dominance after the break, dictating possession and creating chances at will. Their persistence paid off late in the game as Salah struck again in the 84th minute, this time set up by Marwan Ateya, to seal a comprehensive victory.
With 23 points from nine matches, Egypt have now secured qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, marking their return to the global stage after missing the 2022 edition in Qatar.
