Egypt rejects high-profile friendly against powerhouse Brazil

 

The Egyptian FA has reportedly turned down a high-profile international friendly match proposal from South American powerhouse Brazil.

Brazil are in talks to secure a friendly match in November 2025, with Egypt emerging as the top target. However, the record AFCON holders has rejected the opportunity to face the South American giants.

With Egypt turning done the proposal, the five-time World Cup winners are said to be exploring the possibility of playing the Bafana Bafana of South Africa.

Currently, talks are ongoing between Brazil and South Africa to secure a high-stake friendly match two months’ time.

South Africa is enjoying an impressive World Cup qualifying campaign and is on the verge of securing a spot at the tournament.

However, Hugo Broos outfit could earn up playing South American heavyweight in a much-anticipated friendly clash.

Most recently, Bafana Bafana earned a draw against Nigeria in the eighth round of qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.

South Africa will return to action in October for the final round of the qualification series. The Bafana Bafana will face Zimbabwe before taking on Rwanda.

Currently, the Bafana Bafana sit top of Group C, accumulating 17 points from eight matches.
