Egypt: Pyramids FC prioritizes player wellbeing after Hamdi Scare
President of Pyramids FC, Engineer Mamdouh Eid, emphasized that the health and safety of players takes precedence over match results or tournament outcomes.
The club, its management, technical staff, and players placed the well-being of left-back Mohamed Hamdi Ibrahim above all else following a medical incident during last Tuesday’s Cup clash against Petrojet.
Hamdi fainted on the pitch and swallowed his tongue, prompting immediate medical attention. He was promptly transferred to a nearby hospital for thorough examinations as a precaution.
Speaking to the club’s media center, Mamdouh Eid stated, “The players’ health and safety are our top priority. Winning a match or even a championship is never more important than the well-being of our players—they are our most valuable asset.”
At the hospital, Hamdi underwent comprehensive checks, including assessments of movement, nerve function, and bone integrity. All results were positive, and the player received the necessary treatment.
He has since returned home in full health and consciousness, much to the relief of the club and his family.
