Additionally, the Port Said police chief received a 15-year prison sentence. The incident occurred during a match between Al Ahly and Al Masry in February 2012, resulting in 70 fatalities and numerous injuries. The Egyptian football league was suspended in the aftermath of the violence and resumed in February of the following year.
