Mohamed Gharib, the director of the Egypt national team, has disclosed the details of the team’s training camp in preparation for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The team’s head coach, Roy Vitoria, has announced a squad of 27 players gearing up for participation in the prestigious tournament.
Scheduled to commence on January 13, 2024, and concluding on February 11, the AFCON tournament holds great significance for Egypt, and here are the intricate details of the national team’s training camp leading up to their departure to Abidjan:
– Camp Kickoff (January 2): The training camp will commence on January 2 in the New Administrative Capital.
– Training Venue: The team will conduct their training sessions at the new stadium in the Olympic City.
– Friendly Match Against Tanzania (January 7): Egypt will play a friendly match against Tanzania at the Cairo Stadium, starting at 6:00 PM.
– Post-Match Rest (January 8): Players will be granted rest after the friendly match, returning to the camp on the evening of January 8.
– Morning Training (January 9): The team will undergo a morning training session on January 9 before embarking on their journey to Cote d’Ivoire in the afternoon. The delegation is expected to arrive at 10:00 PM via a chartered plane, with the Ministry of Youth and Sports covering the expenses.
Egypt has been drawn into Group 2 alongside Ghana, Mozambique, and Cape Verde for the AFCON tournament.
