The coaching staff of the Egyptian national team, led by manager Rui Vitoria, is considering traveling to San Pedro next Friday in preparation for the Round of 16 match in the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.
Officials from the Egyptian national team revealed that San Pedro is characterized by higher humidity levels compared to Platiu, the city in Abidjan where the Pharaohs are currently based.
The Egyptian team is gearing up for the Round of 16 clash in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, scheduled for Sunday, January 28, 2024, at 10:00 PM Cairo time.
They will face the runner-up of Group Six, which includes Morocco, Zambia, Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Tanzania.
Presently, Morocco leads the group with 4 points. The match will take place at the Laurent Pokou Stadium in San Pedro.
Hazem Emam, a board member of the Football Association and the supervisor of the Egyptian national team, spoke about the team’s qualification despite the draw in the last match against Cape Verde.
Emam stated in an interview with ON Time channel, “Qualification came through the players’ hard work, as they are giving their utmost effort.
The team will rest for a while before the next match, and I urge the fans to support the team as always.”
He added, “The team’s morale is very good, and the current generation of players is considered one of the best.
I wish them success in the upcoming match and to continue the journey.”
Regarding the injuries to Mohamed Salah and Mohamed El-Shenawy, Emam emphasized the importance of their well-being and expressed hopes that the injuries are not severe.
He pointed out that the weather conditions in San Pedro are characterized by high humidity, and there is a possibility of traveling two days before the match in preparation for the Round of 16.
The team’s supervisor apologized to the fans for the unsatisfactory results in recent times.
He affirmed that the players gave their all in today’s match, expressing his hope for success in the upcoming games.
