Egypt’s national football team is kicking off its road to the 2026 World Cup after their official qualification, following a decisive 3-0 win over Djibouti in Morocco.

Under manager Hossam Hassan, the Pharaohs clinched the top spot in their group with 28 points, outpacing Burkina Faso and confirming their ticket to next summer’s tournament in the US, Canada, and Mexico, where 48 teams will compete.

Egyptian Football Federation board member Tarek Abu Elenin revealed a far-reaching plan for the squad’s World Cup journey, crafted in cooperation with the Ministry of Youth and Sports and event sponsors.

The team will start preparations with a friendly tournament in the UAE this November, though the lineup of participating teams is still being finalized. Abu Elenin emphasized Egypt’s ambitions to go beyond just qualifying: “Qualifying for the World Cup isn’t the end, it’s a new beginning for fixing Egyptian football’s path and working on a long-term vision for all national teams.”

A massive celebration is scheduled at Cairo Stadium before the upcoming match against Guinea-Bissau, including a concert for fans. Players and staff will receive generous bonuses, with each player expected to earn 800,000 EGP, distributed based on participation. The staff is working to finalize details, and coach Hossam Hassan is set to stay on, regardless of results in the African Cup of Nations later this year.
