Egypt name 14-man squad for Algeria friendlies ahead of Africa Futsal Cup of Nations

Egypt head coach Nader Rashad has selected a 14-man squad for the national futsal team’s two friendly matches against Algeria later this month.

The two sides will meet on 21 and 23 September as Egypt continue their preparations for the Africa Futsal Cup of Nations, which will be held in Morocco from 12 to 21 October.

The squad includes two goalkeepers and 12 outfield players.

Egypt have been drawn in Group B alongside Tanzania, Angola and Mozambique.

The upcoming tournament will be Egypt’s eighth appearance at the Africa Futsal Cup of Nations. They are the only team to have competed in every edition of the competition.

Egypt have won the title three times, in 1996, 2000 and 2004. They finished runners-up in 2008, 2016 and 2020.

At the most recent edition, in 2024, Egypt placed fourth behind Morocco, Angola and Libya.

The 2026 edition will not serve as a qualifying competition for the Futsal World Cup scheduled to take place in 2028.
