Egypt hit by seven absences ahead of Uzbekistan friendly
The Egyptian national football team, under coach Hossam Hassan, is focusing on intense preparations in Al Ain, UAE, for the upcoming friendly against Uzbekistan.
The squad is training with high spirits and strong motivation, aiming to develop new tactics and improve attacking efficiency ahead of major competitions like the World Cup 2026 and Africa Cup of Nations.
Training sessions included fitness drills and tactical work on building play from the back and capitalizing on wing attacks. The team is also working on finishing accuracy, which Hassan considers vital due to missed opportunities in previous games.
However, Egypt faces a challenge, as seven players are sidelined with injuries, including key names like Trezeguet, Mohamed Abdelmonem, Mostafa Fathi, Ibrahim Adel, Mohanad Lasheen, Ahmed Eid, and Amr El Gazar. The medical staff is running intensive rehab programs, hoping for their quick return.
Despite the absences, Hassan gives opportunities to young talents proving themselves in training. Mohamed Salah remains active with the team, and a medical test will determine goalkeeper Mohamed El-Shenawy’s readiness, possibly giving Ahmed El-Shenawy a chance to start.
The camp continues until the friendly tournament concludes, followed by further official preparations in Cairo.
