The Ministry of Youth and Sports, led by Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, is set to deliver a distinctive service to the Egyptian public and Arab and African communities in Egypt by broadcasting the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) matches in Ivory Coast on January 13th within approximately 5000 youth centers across the country.

The youth centers nationwide, numbering around 5000, are expected to witness a significant turnout of the Egyptian populace rallying behind the national team in AFCON.

The aspiration is to clinch the eighth championship for the Pharaohs after a 14-year hiatus since their last victory in 2010.

In a related context, the Jazeera Development Center has completed preparations to broadcast the entire AFCON matches on the Roman Theater stage.

This initiative aligns with the directives of the supervisory committee overseeing the center, chaired by Major General Ismail El Far, the Deputy Minister and Head of the Youth Sector at the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

The Roman Theater at the Jazeera Development Youth Center is expected to feature a dedicated analytical studio for members and visitors during Egypt’s AFCON matches.

The AFCON tournament in Ivory Coast kicks off on Saturday, January 13, 2024, at the Hassan Wattara Stadium in Ebimpe, Abidjan, and continues until February 11, 2024.

Our national team plays in Group 2 alongside Mozambique, Ghana, and Cape Verde.

Egypt faces Mozambique on Sunday, January 14, at 7:00 PM Cairo time.

In the second match, Egypt confronts Ghana on January 18 at 10:00 PM Cairo time, and the third match sees Egypt against Cape Verde on January 22 at 10:00 PM Cairo time.

The Minister of Youth and Sports attended the training sessions alongside Egypt’s Olympic champions in wrestling, weightlifting, squash, modern pentathlon, fencing, karate, and taekwondo.

The training sessions took place at Egypt Stadium in the New Administrative Capital, aiming to support the team before the Egyptian national football team competes in the AFCON.

Sobhi stated, “We ensured our presence with a large number of Egypt’s Olympic champions and world champions to support the Egyptian team before entering the AFCON competition.

I am delighted to visit this great sports facility.”

The Minister emphasized that Egypt now boasts numerous giant sports facilities, a source of pride for all.

These facilities were established with the support of the political leadership led by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.

One such facility is the Egypt International City for Olympic Games in the New Administrative Capital, hosting the national team’s camp before the AFCON competition.

It stands as a prominent addition to Egypt’s sports facilities.

Sobhi concluded, “We have laid out a comprehensive plan to develop the Egyptian football system in collaboration with the Egyptian Football Association.

We are now moving steadily and strongly toward qualifying for the 2026 World Cup.”

Jamaal Allam, the President of the Egyptian Football Association, expressed gratitude for the visit and support from the Minister of Youth and Sports, as well as the support of the Egyptian state for the first national football team before the AFCON competition.

The training sessions witnessed the presence of Hazem Emam, Khaled El-Darandaly, a board member of the Egyptian Football Association, Dina Rafaat, and Dr. Mahmoud Hussein, the Head of the Youth and Sports Committee in the House of Representatives.
