Two-time African Footballer of the Year Mohamed Salah is growing increasingly frustrated with Liverpool’s handling of contract negotiations, despite being open to accepting a new one-year deal.
The Egyptian forward is still waiting for clarity from the club on the length and terms of any potential agreement, with interest mounting from top European clubs keen to sign him on a free transfer next summer.
Currently, the 32-year-old cannot engage in discussions with other clubs due to his existing contract, but from January 1, he will be free to negotiate and sign a pre-contract agreement with any club outside of England.
Sources close to the situation have revealed to The Athletic that Liverpool’s negotiations with Salah’s representative, Ramy Abbas, have been ongoing, but the pace has left the player frustrated.
Despite Liverpool’s claims of positive talks, Salah remains unconvinced that the club will meet his expectations.
A recent report from French publication L’Equipe linked Salah with a move to Paris Saint-Germain, although the Ligue 1 champions have denied any talks.
Following Liverpool’s victory over Southampton last month, Salah expressed his disappointment, stating that he was “probably more out than in” and lamented the lack of a formal contract offer.
