The Egyptian Football Association has officially confirmed that the 2025 Egypt Cup final between Pyramids FC and Zamalek SC will now take place on 5 June at Cairo International Stadium, following a change to the original fixture date.
In a statement released by the federation, the governing body clarified the new arrangements after speculation surrounding a potential change in venue.
Originally slated for 20 May, the final was subject to rescheduling due to fixture congestion and logistical considerations involving the participating teams.
“The Egyptian Football Association’s board of directors, headed by Engineer Hany Abu Rida, has decided to hold the Egypt Cup final match between Pyramids and Zamalek on June 5 at Cairo Stadium,” read the official communication.
The decision puts an end to swirling rumours that the final might be moved to a neutral venue outside Egypt, with the United Arab Emirates reportedly under consideration.
The confirmation of Cairo Stadium as the host venue ensures that the final will be staged in front of local supporters, maintaining the tradition and atmosphere of one of Egypt’s most prestigious football events.
The fixture promises to be a high-stakes showdown between two of the country’s most in-form clubs.
Zamalek SC, one of Egypt’s most decorated sides, will be seeking to add another domestic title to their collection.
On the other hand, Pyramids FC, a club that has rapidly risen in stature, will be aiming to make history by lifting the Egypt Cup and further establishing their place among the elite of Egyptian football.
The new date also allows Pyramids FC, managed by Krunoslav Jurcic, a clearer preparation window as they gear up for their CAF Champions League final against South African giants Mamelodi Sundowns.
With that continental encounter likely to demand full focus and squad rotation, the rescheduling comes as a timely relief for the club.
With the dust now settled over both the timing and location of the final, attention turns to the tactical battle that awaits between two sides who have taken different paths to reach this stage.
The Egypt Cup, steeped in tradition and passion, is once again set to deliver another memorable chapter in the nation’s footballing history.
