Egypt confirms dates and venues for friendlies against Saudi Arabia and Spain

The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) has officially announced the dates and venues for the national team’s upcoming international friendlies as part of preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

In a statement released early Friday, the EFA explained that its board of directors held an emergency meeting to finalise the Pharaohs’ preparation program, ensuring that logistical challenges caused by recent events would not disrupt the plan.

“The Federation’s Board of Directors was keen to complete the preparation plan as approved and to overcome all obstacles to guarantee its successful implementation,” the statement read. “All logistical challenges have been resolved, and confirmation has been given to hold two international friendly matches.”

Egypt will face Saudi Arabia on March 27 in Jeddah, before travelling to Barcelona to take on Spain on March 31. Both matches form part of the national team’s strategy to prepare thoroughly for the 2026 World Cup.

Head coach Hossam Hassan and his staff remain committed to the program, despite the limited time and expected travel fatigue between the two matches.

“The coaching staff welcomed the EFA’s efforts to maintain the World Cup preparation program and ensure the team is fully ready for the tournament,” the federation added.
