Egypt Capital Cup: Ceramica Cleopatra match against Al Masry brought forward

Ceramica Cleopatra’s Egypt Capital Cup group-stage match against Al Masry has been moved forward by one day and will now take place on 7 October.

The Egyptian Clubs Association’s competitions committee confirmed the change in a letter, with the fixture originally scheduled for 8 October. The game will kick off at 20:00 at New Suez Stadium.

The adjustment follows a decision to bring Egypt’s international camp to an end on 4 October, after the national team’s friendly against South Africa. As a result, the dates of several Egypt Capital Cup matches have been revised.

Ceramica Cleopatra and Al Masry are both in Group D, alongside Petrojet, Ghazl El Mahalla and Abu Qir Fertilizers.

The tournament will once again be played in a group-stage format, as it was last season. The teams have been divided into four groups, with the top two sides in each section advancing to the quarter-finals.

The four clubs that finished in the highest positions in last season’s league have been placed at the head of each group.

The draw produced the following groups:

Group A: Zamalek, Wadi Degla, ZED, Al Ittihad Al Iskandary and Tala’ea El Gaish.

Group B: Pyramids, Smouha, National Bank of Egypt, Modern Sport and El Qanah.

Group C: Al Ahly, Eastern Company, ENPPI, El Gouna, El Mokawloon Al Arab and Asyut Petroleum.

Group D: Al Masry, Ceramica Cleopatra, Petrojet, Ghazl El Mahalla and Abu Qir Fertilizers.

The knockout rounds will be played over two legs in both the quarter-finals and semi-finals.

Al Masry are the holders of the Egypt Capital Cup after beating ENPPI 3-0 in last season’s final.
