Egypt boss Hossam Hassan joins Pro licence course in Cairo

Egypt manager Hossam Hassan has taken part in the Pro licence coaching course being held at the National Teams Centre in Sixth of October.

The seventh unit of the African coaching diploma, which leads to the Pro licence, resumed on Wednesday at the headquarters of the Egyptian Football Association.

Coaches attending the course welcomed Hassan and praised his achievements with Egypt, most recently the national team’s impressive showing at the 2026 World Cup, where they reached the last 16.

At the start of the session, international lecturer Hassan Malouche congratulated Hassan on Egypt’s results at both the Africa Cup of Nations and the World Cup, according to the Egyptian Football Association’s website.

Gamal Mohamed Ali, director of the coaches’ administration, also presented an overview of Hassan’s career as a player and manager. He highlighted the successes Hassan achieved in both roles, including Egypt’s latest World Cup campaign.

Hassan opened his own address by welcoming the coaches present. He noted that many of them had previously played alongside him at the 1986 Africa Cup of Nations.

They included Shouky Gharib, the federation’s technical director, as well as Rabie Yassin, Alaa Nabil and Hamada Sedky, who had been team-mates with Hassan before going on to become coaches.

The Egypt manager spoke about his early coaching career and his work with a series of clubs before taking charge of the national team.

He said his success was also a success for Egyptian coaches, a view supported by those attending the course.

Alaa Nabil said Hassan’s achievement at the World Cup had been one of the reasons the Egyptian Football Association decided to appoint Egyptian coaches to work with the national teams.

Rabie Yassin, Moad Gamal and Abdel Hamid Bassiouny were among the coaches who also congratulated Hassan.

They said he had presented a positive image of Egypt and its people at the World Cup, while also pointing to the unity of the Egyptian public and the return of strong support for the national team.

Large numbers of Egypt supporters had been absent from the team’s matches in recent years, according to the source.

At the end of the lecture, the coaches gathered for commemorative photographs with Hassan. The Egypt manager also presented Malouche with a shirt bearing his name.
