Egypt have begun their September international break training camp at the National Teams Centre in 6th of October City, with players from Al Ahly, Zamalek and Ceramica Cleopatra involved on the opening day.
Hossam Hassan’s side will face Angola and South Sudan in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers before taking on South Africa in a friendly.
Players from Pyramids and Zed are expected to join the squad after their clubs complete their matches on Thursday.
Hassan has handed Al Ahly midfielder Ali Mahmoud his first call-up to the Egypt national team. He has also recalled goalkeeper Abdel Aziz El Balouty, who replaces Mohamed El Shenawy after the latter suffered an injury.
Egypt are in Group Two of the African qualifiers for the Africa Cup of Nations, alongside Angola, South Sudan and Malawi.
They will play Angola at Cairo International Stadium on Friday, 25 September. Egypt will then travel to face South Sudan on 29 September, with kick-off scheduled for 15:00 Cairo time.
The team’s friendly against South Africa will take place on 4 October.
The 2027 Africa Cup of Nations will be hosted by Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda from 19 June to 17 July 2027.
