Egypt begin 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying preparations under Hassan brothers

Egypt’s senior national team have begun their training camp ahead of the opening two rounds of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

The Pharaohs are preparing for matches against Angola on 25 September and South Sudan on 29 September, followed by a friendly against South Africa on 4 October.

Head coach Hossam Hassan is overseeing the squad alongside his brother Ibrahim as Egypt start their preparations at the national teams’ centre.

The opening training session combined physical warm-ups with technical work on the ball. Hossam Hassan’s coaching staff also introduced the team’s initial tactical preparations, maintaining a high intensity despite the squad being incomplete at the start of the camp.

A first group of players reported for duty as the gathering opened. The group included goalkeepers Mostafa Chobeir, Al-Mehdi Souleymane, Mohamed Alaa and Abdelaziz El Balouti.

Outfield players Mohamed Hany, Ahmed Fathy, Marwan Attia, Ahmed Sayed Zizo, Imam Ashour and Ali Mahmoud were also present, with Tarek El Ala joining the initial group.

The rest of Egypt’s international players are expected to arrive in the coming hours, gradually completing the squad for the three-match schedule.
