Egypt coach Hossam Hassan reportedly turns down Cameroon friendly over key player absences

Egypt’s national football team, led by coach Hossam Hassan, has revealed the 26-player roster for their November training camp in the United Arab Emirates.

The preparation, taking place from November 10 to 18, is focused on building a strong squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations and ensuring readiness for the 2026 World Cup after recent qualification success.

The list includes the notable return of goalkeeper Ahmed El Shenawy, who showed great form with Pyramids FC, and striker Salah Mohsen. Ahmed Fattouh is also back in the lineup after impressing for Zamalek in the Egyptian Super Cup.

Fresh faces join, such as Marwan Osman from Ceramica Cleopatra and Mohamed Ismail from Zamalek, marking their first national call-up. Six Europe-based pros feature, including Liverpool star Mohamed Salah, Omar Marmoush, Rami Rabia, Hamdy Fathi, Mostafa Mohamed, and Ibrahim Adel.

Coach Hassan’s focus is on blending experience and new talent, testing formations, and giving opportunities to promising players.

The camp will include friendly matches against Uzbekistan and potentially Iran or Cape Verde, aiming to sharpen the squad before Africa’s biggest tournament. Fans are hopeful this camp marks the beginning of Egypt’s journey to reclaim continental glory.
