Ahead of December’s crucial doubleheader against Ghana in the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifiers, interim Super Eagles B coach Austin Eguavoen has named a squad of 30 home-based players, including veteran Kano Pillars midfielder Rabiu Ali. The 44-year-old has impressed this season with eight goals in the Nigerian Premier Football League (NPFL).
The team also features Remo Stars goalkeeper Kayode Bankole, Nasarawa United’s Anas Yusuf, and Enyimba FC’s Henry Ozoemena.
The squad will reconvene on December 4 at the Remo Stars Stadium, Ikenne.
The first leg of the qualifiers is set for December 22 in Accra, with the return fixture scheduled for December 28 at Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo.
Nigeria will aim to overcome a history of CHAN eliminations by Ghana, including the 2009 and 2023 heartbreaks.
The 2024 CHAN tournament, hosted by Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania in February 2025, is exclusively for players competing in their domestic leagues.
