EFL Cup: We showed our mentality against Newcastle United – Egypt forward Omar Marmoush

Egyptian forward Omar Marmoush has hailed the spirit and performance of his Manchester City teammates following their 3-1 victory over Newcastle United.

The Etihad Stadium witnessed City’s dominance in the second leg of the Carabao Cup semifinal on Wednesday, where Marmoush netted twice, and Tijjani Reijnders added another to secure a 5-1 aggregate triumph, booking the club’s place in the final.

“We showed a great mentality in that game. They are one of the biggest clubs in the world. We are here to win titles,” he told Sky Sports.

“We were united as a team from the first minute, we were very focused on the task at hand, we showed our determination and passion to win, and we are very happy to have achieved that.”

Looking ahead to the final, he added, “I am very excited. It is a great feeling to reach the final. We hope to reach every final we can. We are very happy to be here. Now we are focusing on the upcoming matches, and we hope to win the final.”

Manchester City will face Arsenal in the Carabao Cup final on March 22, while Marmoush will look to maintain his scoring streak when City visits Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday.
