Al-Ahli delivered a commanding 4-0 victory over Al-Ettifaq in the Saudi Pro League on Wednesday, with Edouard Mendy producing a standout performance between the posts.

The result extended Al-Ahli’s unbeaten run in 2026 to eight matches and temporarily moved the team into second place in the league standings.

Senegalese goalkeeper Mendy not only kept a clean sheet but also played a key role in the opening goal, demonstrating his influence on both ends of the pitch.

English striker Ivan Toney was the star of the evening, scoring a hat-trick and providing an assist to continue his remarkable scoring form.

With 18 goals, Toney now leads the league’s top scorers, ahead of Julian Quiñones of Al-Qadsiah and Cristiano Ronaldo of Al-Nassr, who each have 16.

Al-Ahli’s fourth goal came courtesy of former Stade de Reims midfielder Valentin Atangana Edoa, rounding off a dominant display from the home side.

Mendy, who has been widely celebrated for his contributions this season, played a decisive part in Al-Ahli’s opening goal by sending a precise through ball to Riyad Mahrez.

The Senegalese goalkeeper also made two crucial saves to keep Al-Ettifaq at bay, helping the Royal Club maintain a flawless defensive record.

Al-Ahli fans honored Mendy during the match with a tifo celebrating his recent Africa Cup of Nations triumph.

By keeping a clean sheet, Mendy recorded his seventh of the season, the best record in the Saudi Pro League despite missing seven matches due to injury and international duty.

Since joining Al-Ahli, the former Chelsea goalkeeper has kept 34 clean sheets, more than any other goalkeeper in the league during that period, underscoring his status as one of the most reliable shot-stoppers in the competition.

Al-Ahli will look to build on their dominant performance as the Saudi Pro League season progresses, with Mendy and Toney central to their hopes of mounting a serious title challenge.
