Edmund Baidoo: Ghanaian Salzburg forward linked with Club Brugge move

Ghanaian centre-forward Edmund Baidoo of Salzburg is being linked with a summer move to Belgian side Club Brugge as the Jupiler Pro League club assess attacking options for the new campaign.

Baidoo, 20, is under contract with the Austrian Bundesliga champions until June 2029, meaning any deal is likely to require a substantial fee. His current valuation stands at around €8 million, and Salzburg are expected to be in a strong negotiating position given the length of his deal.

Club Brugge are understood to be tracking Baidoo after his emergence in Austria, where he has made 45 league appearances for Salzburg, scoring nine goals and adding six assists. His exposure to European competition, including minutes in the Europa League and Champions League qualifying rounds, has further raised his profile among clubs outside Austria.

Salzburg signed Baidoo from Norwegian side Sogndal in August 2024 for around €3.3 million after a productive spell in the OBOS-ligaen, and his development since then has reinforced their reputation for identifying and developing young attacking players before selling at a premium.

The timing of any potential approach from Club Brugge is likely to hinge on outgoings in their forward line, with the Belgian club exploring options that fit both their sporting model and resale strategy. For now, Baidoo remains tied to Salzburg on a long-term deal running to 2029, leaving the Austrian club in no rush to sanction a sale.
