Edimond Oppong: Italy-Ghana forward linked with move to Cove Rangers

Italy-Ghana centre-forward Edimond Oppong, currently without a club, is being linked with a move to Scottish League One side Cove Rangers as the Aberdeen club assesses attacking options for the new campaign. The 21-year-old is available on a free and is understood to be under consideration following a brief spell in the English lower leagues last season.

Oppong became a free agent on 1 July 2026 after leaving National League North side Hereford, where he made two league appearances. His senior minutes for Hereford were limited to 15 league minutes, but he also completed a full 90-minute outing in Premier League 2, offering scouts a recent look at him over a full match.

The forwards recent career has involved a series of short-term moves in Englands non-league system. In the 2025-26 season he joined Carshalton Athletic from Kettering on a free transfer before switching to Hereford later in the same campaign, also on a free. Prior to that, he had loan experience at Belper United from Mickleover after leaving Belper Town, whom he joined from Boro U21 in the summer of 2024.

Comfortable on either foot and listed at 1.83m, Oppong is viewed as an accessible option for clubs looking to add depth without paying a transfer fee. Cove Rangers, preparing for another season in League One, are monitoring the market for out-of-contract forwards, with Oppong among those being considered.

For now, the striker remains unattached and free to negotiate with interested clubs as he weighs up his next move.
