Eddy Doue’s rapid rise from Paris Saint-Germain academy to Trabzonspor move

Eddy Doue is attracting growing interest after a swift rise from the Paris Saint-Germain academy to senior football in Portugal, with Trabzonspor having agreed to secure his arrival from January 2027.

The Franco-Ivorian midfielder joined Estrela da Amadora in January 2026 and has made an immediate impression, providing three assists in his past two appearances for the Portuguese club.

Doue, who is still at an early stage of his career, has already followed an unusual path. He was part of Paris Saint-Germain’s youth system before moving abroad, while his family connections have also placed him in the spotlight.

A football family

Doue is the first cousin of Desire Doue, who plays for Paris Saint-Germain, and Guela Doue, a Bayer Leverkusen player. The three have all pursued careers at the highest level, although they represent different national teams.

Desire Doue chose France, while Eddy Doue has opted to represent Cote d’Ivoire at youth level. He played for the Elephants at the Tournoi Maurice-Revello, scoring in their 3-1 victory over Venezuela.

He was also named Player of the Match after an impressive display against Portugal, a game that finished 0-0.

From Paris Saint-Germain to Portugal

Doue joined the Paris Saint-Germain academy in 2024 after being identified relatively late during a youth match. By the end of 2025, he had begun to attract attention with the club’s Espoirs side, particularly during the Premier League International Cup.

A clip of his performance against Chelsea circulated widely on social media. It highlighted his technical ability, dribbling and an impressive assist, helping to increase interest in his progress.

In January 2026, Doue left Paris for Estrela da Amadora in search of regular senior football and the opportunity to take the next step in his development. His early performances suggest that move has benefited him, with his three assists in two recent appearances providing a notable return.

Trabzonspor agreement

His strong start in Portugal made him one of the players to generate interest during the final hours of the transfer window in Turkey. Trabzonspor were persuaded by his performances in midfield and secured his future arrival.

The transfer will not officially take effect until January 2027, meaning Doue will remain with Estrela da Amadora until then.

Paris Saint-Germain will retain a financial interest in the deal. The French club is expected to receive 50% of the amount from the midfielder’s future transaction, allowing it to maintain a significant stake in the development of one of its former academy players.
