Eddie Nketiah will miss Crystal Palace game against Fiorentina
Crystal Palace will be without striker Eddie Nketiah for Thursday night’s UEFA Conference League quarter-final first leg against Fiorentina at Selhurst Park after the forward suffered a recurrence of his hamstring injury in training.
Manager Oliver Glasner confirmed the setback and the extent of the disappointment around the camp. “Eddie unfortunately injured his hamstring again and had to leave the pitch two minutes before the end of the session. He won’t make tomorrow’s squad. He will have a scan again, but it doesn’t really look good for him. The worst thing for a player is when you are injured and have setbacks, that makes it very tough for Eddie. He will have all our support to come back hopefully before the end of the season.”
Nketiah’s absence is a major blow for Palace’s attacking plans, with the 26-year-old having become a key outlet under Glasner’s front-foot, high-intensity style. Palace will now look to the likes of Jean-Philippe Mateta and their wide forwards to shoulder the scoring burden in a tie that could define their European campaign.
With a packed schedule ahead, the club will hope Nketiah’s latest setback does not rule him out for the run-in as they balance domestic and European ambitions.
