Ebuka Nwenyi: Nigerian defender joins CD Cieza on free transfer from Aguilas FC

Nigerian centre-back Ebuka Nwenyi has joined Spanish side CD Cieza on a free transfer from Aguilas FC. The 25-year-old left-footed defender has signed a deal running until 30 June 2027 with the Segunda Federacion Group III club.

Nwenyi makes the move after three seasons in Spain’s third and fourth tiers, most recently with Aguilas FC in Primera Federacion Group II, whom he had joined in 2023, also on a free. His switch to Cieza sees him drop a division but offers the prospect of regular football in a side aiming to consolidate at Segunda Federacion level.

Born in Ihembosi, Nwenyi has built a solid resume in Spanish football, amassing more than 100 appearances in Segunda Federacion Group IV alone, as well as further league and cup outings across the country’s lower divisions. He also gained experience in the Copa del Rey and promotion and relegation play-offs, underlining his familiarity with pressure situations.

Before Aguilas, Nwenyi represented Ourense and Merida AD, having first arrived in Spain with CD Mirandes B following a spell in the Nigerian Professional Football League with Giant Brillars. His performances have seen his market value rise to around €100,000.

Nwenyi will now continue his career in Murcia with CD Cieza, who have secured his services on a permanent basis until summer 2027.
