Eberl says Jamal Musiala is ‘fine’ after unsettling Bayern incident

Jamal Musiala is not believed to have suffered a serious problem after collapsing during Bayern Munich’s 3-1 friendly win over RB Leipzig on Saturday.

The Germany international fell suddenly in the 83rd minute of the Telekom Cup match, with no obvious contact involved. Players from both teams immediately called for medical assistance, while an emergency doctor came on to the pitch as the stadium fell silent.

Musiala, who is 23, received treatment on the field before the doctor gave a positive signal a short time later. He then left the pitch appearing distracted and dizzy, prompting concern among those watching the pre-season meeting.

However, Bayern Munich sporting director Max Eberl sought to ease those fears after the match.

“He is fine, and that is the most important thing,” Eberl told Bild.

The incident occurred in Munich during a period of high temperatures, with the thermometer reaching 33C. According to Sport1, Musiala experienced dizziness and circulation problems linked to the heat.

Initial examinations carried out by Bayern Munich’s medical staff did not identify any worrying signs. The club is nevertheless expected to monitor the player closely before deciding when he can resume training.

Musiala is expected to be given a two-day rest period to allow him to recover. His condition will then be assessed by the club, with a decision on his return to training to follow.

The episode overshadowed Bayern Munich’s victory over RB Leipzig as both teams continued preparations for the 2026-27 season. Bayern had established a 3-1 success in the Telekom Cup, but the late collapse created a worrying moment before the reassuring update from Eberl.

The absence of any clear collision made the incident particularly concerning initially. Musiala went down without apparent contact, and the immediate response from the players and medical personnel reflected the seriousness with which the situation was treated.

After receiving attention, the midfielder was able to leave the playing area, although he looked unsettled and affected by dizziness. The early medical checks have not indicated a serious issue, but Bayern Munich will wait before confirming the next stage of his pre-season schedule.

For now, the club’s approach is to allow Musiala time to recover from the circulation problems reported to have been caused by the heat. Further observation over the next few days will determine when he is ready to return to team training.
