Eberechi Eze eases injury fears ahead of Carabao Cup final
Eberechi Eze has reassured Arsenal fans after giving them a late scare in the 2-0 Champions League win over Bayer Leverkusen at the Emirates.
The midfielder, who lit up the night with a stunning 20-yard half-volley to open the scoring in the 36th minute, was withdrawn in the closing stages after appearing to pick up a minor knock.
His substitution raised concerns with the Carabao Cup final on the horizon, but Eze moved quickly to calm any anxiety. Speaking after the match, he was upbeat about his condition and made it clear there was no major issue.
“Yeah I am alright, I will be okay!” he told reporters with a smile, confirming that the change was largely precautionary and that he expects to be available for the showpiece at Wembley.
With Arsenal chasing silverware on multiple fronts, Eze’s fitness is a major boost. His performance against Leverkusen, capped by that spectacular strike, underlined just how important he has already become to Mikel Arteta’s side in the decisive stage of the season.
