Olympique de Marseille is actively seeking to reinforce its midfield, with Gianelli Imbula identified as a top priority. The Marseille club aims to add dynamism to the midfield alongside Togolese international Romao. An initial offer of 6 million euros has been submitted by Marseille for Imbula, who was voted the best player in Ligue 2 last season. However, Guingamp considers the proposal insufficient.
The Guingamp staff is resolute that the Congolese midfielder will not be sold at any cost this summer. Guingamp coach Jocelyn Gourvennec emphasized Imbula’s significance, stating, “He doesn’t have many equivalents in France. In his position, I even think he is the strongest of his generation. I’m preparing for the season with him; he’s got the head of the club.”
Gourvennec further added, “The EAG has no interest in selling him; he is the player who can help the club to maintain itself, which is the objective. Its sale would not dampen maintenance.” The coach’s remarks underscore Guingamp’s determination to retain Imbula, emphasizing his importance in achieving the club’s goals for the upcoming season.
