Dylan Tawodzera: Huddersfield Town U21 sign left-back from Sheffield United U18 on free transfer
Huddersfield Town U21 have signed left-back Dylan Tawodzera from Sheffield United U18 on a free transfer. The 18-year-old defender moves within Yorkshire as he steps up from under-18 to under-21 level ahead of the 2026-27 season.
Tawodzera, who is eligible to represent both England and Zimbabwe, has joined Huddersfields development squad after two years in Sheffield Uniteds youth system. He initially linked up with the Blades junior ranks before progressing to the clubs U18 side in 2024.
A specialist left-back, Tawodzera offers defensive depth and balance on the flank for Huddersfields U21s as they shape their squad for the new campaign. His move also reflects a clear progression path, with the defender now entering the final stages of academy football in search of regular minutes at a higher age-group level.
Tawodzera has already gained experience in national youth competition, making three appearances and scoring once in the FA Youth Cup, where he logged 223 minutes of action. That exposure to knockout football provided a platform for his step up within the academy game.
The teenager will now continue his development in Huddersfield Towns U21 set-up after completing his free transfer from Sheffield United U18.
