Dutch-born winger Ayoub Oufkir is undecided about his international future

Rising AZ Alkmaar talent Ayoub Oufkir has addressed growing speculation surrounding his international future, confirming that he has not yet been contacted by Morocco while leaving all options on the table.

The 20-year-old forward, who is of Moroccan descent, has been in impressive form with the Netherlands youth teams, drawing attention as one of the country’s emerging prospects.

Despite Morocco’s recent push to recruit dual-nationality players, Oufkir revealed that no approach has been made so far.

Speaking to Dutch outlet VoetbalPrimeur, he said, “I am currently focused on the Dutch national team, and I strive to give my best every time I am called up.”

He added, “I play for the Netherlands, and I feel very comfortable within the national team, but I have not yet made my final decision, and all options are still open.

Oufkir’s stock has risen significantly following the latest international break, where he marked his debut for the Netherlands Under-21 side with a goal and an assist in a 2-1 win over Belgium. The performance further underlined his growing influence at youth level.

Reflecting on his breakthrough, he said, “This is something you always dream about. Wearing the national team jersey gives me a great morale boost, and I’ve noticed that recently. It’s a very wonderful feeling.”

The young attacker also played a key role in the Netherlands Under-19 team’s European Championship triumph last summer, adding to his growing reputation as a player with a bright international future.
