Dutch-Nigerian striker Emanuel Emegha admits he didn’t know RC Strasbourg was in France before joining
Dutch striker of Nigerian descent Emanuel Emegha has disclosed that he had no idea RC Strasbourg was based in France before signing for the club.
The striker joined Strasbourg from Sturm Graz in the summer of 2022, becoming one of the early arrivals of the BlueCo era, and is now gearing up for a move to their sister club, Chelsea.
Emegha has grown into a key figure at Strasbourg, making 68 appearances and scoring 29 goals since his arrival. But speaking to Dutch outlet AD, he revealed that he initially misunderstood where the city was located.
“To be honest, I didn’t even know where that (Strasbourg) was. I thought it was in Germany, but it turned out to be in France. Well, I think everyone knows Strasbourg now,” he said.
Now wearing the captain’s armband and having made his debut for the Netherlands earlier this month, Emegha reflected on how the move shaped his career.
“Strasbourg really had a plan for young players like me. That’s worked out. I was the first player in the project, and next season, I will join Chelsea. Everything has gone as I had hoped,” he stated.
His transfer to Chelsea, confirmed in September, is set to take effect this summer.
