Dutch-Nigerian forward Emanuel Emegha named new Strasbourg captain

Dutch-Nigeria attacker Emanuel Emegha has been named as the captain for Strasbourg ahead of the upcoming 2025/26 football campaign.

The 22-year-old enterprising attacker succeeds Mali international Habib Diarra following his departure from the club in the current window.

Diarra now find himself in the books of Premier League outfit Sunderland following his big money switch, garnering a record fee for Les Alsaciens.

With Andrey Santos returning to parent club, Chelsea, Strasbourg have settled on the Dutch-Nigerian centre-forward as their new skipper. Santos captained the French club on occasions last season.

The Dutchman, who joined in a €13m move from Sturm Graz back in 2023, has now played 60 times for the French club. In that time, he has netted 23 goals and registered five assists.

Meanwhile, Emegha could be playing his final season for Strasbourg amid a reported agreement for him to join fellow BlueCo-owned side Chelsea next summer.
