Dutch international of Ghanaian descent Memphis Depay has rated the Brazilian top-flight among the top five leagues across the globe.
Depay joined Corinthians last summer after ending his spell with Spanish outfit Atletico Madrid following the expiration of his contract.
Since joining the club, Depay has established himself as a key cog to Corinthians, scoring crucial goals as they battle for the ultimate title.
He was in action last Sunday when his outfit inflicted a 1-0 win over Palmeiras in the top-flight on Sunday.
In an interview with the Dutch press, Depay highlighted the physical demands of Brazilian football, calling it “one of the top five leagues in the world.”
According to the striker, the pace of matches in Brazil is so intense that he loses up to three kilograms per game.
Meanwhile, Depay returns to the Dutch national team for March international break after eight months absence.
The last time Depay was called up to the Netherlands national team was in 2024, before his move to “Corinthians.” His return now coincides with a successful period in South American football, where he has found consistency and become a key figure.
