Dutch-born Ghanaian defender Jeremie Frimpong wants Bayer Leverkusen to be consistent in the ongoing campaign following last season success.
Leverkusen excelled last season, winning both German Bundesliga and DFB Pokal with an unbeaten run.
The team’s unbeaten run came to an end after succumbing to a 3-0 defeat to Atalanta in the Europa League campaign.
Speaking in an interview, Frimpong emphasized his outfit want to avoid being a one season wonder club.
“Last season was great, what we did for Leverkusen we created history for the first time…and now because we are champions we want to keep the consistency. We don’t want to be known as a one season wonder…so we want the consistency.” He said.
The Dutch-born Ghanaian defender arrived in Ghana on Sunday with the Bundesliga on a winter break.
Frimpong is visiting Ghana for the first time despite his parents hailing from the West African country.
The talented right-back featured for Leverkusen against Freiburg on Saturday before traveling to Ghana for the holidays. He is expected to embark on a lot of activities including charity work.
