Dutch forward of Ghanaian descent, Memphis Depay, has opened up on what he has experienced playing in Brazil.
The 31-year-old signed for Brasileiro Série A club Corinthians in 2024 and has already helped the team to clinch the Campeonato Paulista title.
Speaking about what it’s like to play football in Brazil, Memphis Depay said he experienced pure football in the country.
“For ninety minutes, you have space and it never stops. It’s pure football. It goes from one side to the other. Sometimes it slows down, then it speeds up again, it’s complicated and even difficult to define. It’s completely different from what we see in Europe,” Depay said in a recent interview with France Football.
Despite speaking highly of the Brazilian league, Memphis Depay believes there is an area that can be improved.
“There are a lot of very strong, very fast players. We play in very high temperatures. Tactically, they can improve, that’s the only thing,” the former Barcelona winger said.
Meanwhile, Depay has disclosed that after playing for so many clubs and achieving success, he now wants to win the World Cup with the Dutch national team.
