Dutch defender of Ghanaian descent, Jeremie Frimpong is one of several players at Bayer Leverkusen who could leave the club at the end of the 2024/25 football season.
The versatile player will according to sources decide his Bayer Leverkusen future in the summer.
Frimpong, 24, was in action for Bayer Leverkusen over the weekend and scored to help his side secure a 4-3 victory against Stuttgart in the German Bundesliga.
His impressive performance in that game has sparked a conversation on the possibility of leaving the club.
Through the conversations, it has come to light that Jeremie Frimpong has a release clause of 40 million euros in his current Bayer Leverkusen contract that runs until 2028.
With clubs aware of the situation, they could make a move to sign him in the summer transfer window.
As reported by Africasoccer last week, Frimpong is a transfer target of both Real Madrid and FC Barcelona.
The Dutch-Ghanaian defender is focused on helping Leverkusen in the remainder of the season and will only consider a move at the end of the campaign.
