Dutch international of Ghanaian descent Jeremie Frimpong played a pivotal role to help Bayer Leverkusen secure victory over Augsburg in the German Bundesliga.

Frimpong started and played for 90 minutes in the highly competitive clash held at the WWK Arena on Saturday afternoon.

The 24-year-old, who has emerged as top transfer target for several clubs provided an assist, contributing to Leverkusen’s 2-0 away win.

Leverkusen opened the scoring through Martin Terrier in the 14th-minute mark after he was set by the Ghanaian enterprising right-back.

In the 40th-minute, Germany international Florian Wirtz found the net to cement victory for the visitors.

Frimpong was replaced in stoppage time by Brazil international Arthur but could contribute little to the team.

The former Celtic defender has been impressive for Leverkusen since the commencement of the campaign, racking up two goals and providing 8 assists in 23 appearances this season.

Frimpong is a subject of interest for several clubs due to his swashbuckling performance for the German outfit. Meanwhile, his current contract with the club is expected to expire in the summer of 2028.
