Bayer Leverkusen right-back Jeremie Frimpong has arrived in Liverpool as he prepares to finalise his transfer to the Premier League champions.

The Dutch international is expected to be unveiled in the coming days after reaching a full agreement with the Reds.

Frimpong, who has Ghanaian roots, will become Liverpool’s first major signing of the summer window.

According to The Sun, Frimpong’s release clause of £30 million has been triggered by Liverpool, with personal terms already agreed between both parties.

The dynamic defender is seen as a like-for-like replacement for Trent Alexander-Arnold, who is set to depart Anfield after nearly a decade in the senior squad.

Frimpong completed a medical last week, clearing the final hurdle before the deal was activated. His form in Germany has earned widespread praise, with standout performances helping Bayer Leverkusen secure a Bundesliga title and reach the Europa League final last season.

Known for his pace, attacking flair, and work rate, Frimpong registered an impressive tally of assists and goals from right-back, establishing himself as one of Europe’s most promising young defenders.

Liverpool manager Arne Slot is reportedly a long-time admirer of Frimpong and views him as a perfect fit for his high-intensity style of play.

The move also underlines the club’s intention to strengthen defensively while maintaining its attacking thrust from wide areas.

The official announcement from Liverpool is expected imminently, pending final formalities.
