English Champions Club Ipswich Town are closing in on the acquisition of Dutch-Angolan midfielder Azor Matusiwa in the ongoing summer transfer window.
Ipswich Town are keen to bolster their squad for the upcoming 2025/26 football campaign in an attempt to make a quick return to the Premier League.
However, the 27-year-old defensive midfielder, who plies his trade for Stade Rennes has emerged as a priority target or the club.
With talks advancing between both parties, the Dutch-Angolan midfielder is expected to seal a move to the English club in the coming days.
Matusiwa signed for Rennes from Ligue 1 rivals Stade de Reims eighteen months ago for €15m, but failed to live up to expectation.
Despite being under contract until 2028, the midfielder is set to leave the club, with Rennes currently trimming their squad down for the new season. Matusiwa had no guarantees from head coach Habib Beye regarding his playing time, making his departure more likely.
