DStv Diski Challenge: Kaizer Chiefs extend perfect start as Orlando Pirates score five

Kaizer Chiefs maintained their 100% start to the DStv Diski Challenge season despite being reduced to 10 men, beating Siwelele FC 2-0 for a sixth consecutive victory.

The result strengthened Chiefs’ position at the top of the table, with Amakhosi extending their lead to five points. Tashiel Rugananan opened the scoring after only seven minutes, before Emile Dortley was sent off in the 79th minute for his second red card of the season.

Chiefs held on with a player fewer and sealed all three points in stoppage time when they added a second goal.

Defending champions Orlando Pirates produced the biggest win of the weekend, defeating Sekhukhune United 5-0. The emphatic victory moved the Buccaneers up to fourth, although Sekhukhune remained second in the standings despite the heavy loss.

Mamelodi Sundowns were held to a 1-1 draw by Polokwane City, with the two sides sharing the points after an even contest.

Lamontville Golden Arrows climbed to third following a 2-0 victory over TS Galaxy, while Chippa United and newcomers Milford FC played out a 1-1 draw.

There were 10 goals across four fixtures on Saturday, including Pirates’ five-goal victory over Sekhukhune, who were unable to respond after conceding heavily.

The weekend’s other results saw Marumo Gallants lose 1-0 to Richards Bay, AmaZulu FC beat Stellenbosch FC 3-1 and Durban City claim a 1-0 win against Kruger United.
