The Democratic Republic of Congo’s Under-20 team will face Senegal in two friendly matches on March 20 and 23 in Thiès as part of their preparations for the upcoming U20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Ivory Coast.
The Congolese Football Association (FECOFA) confirmed the fixtures on Friday, March 14, via social media.
With the continental tournament fast approaching, DR Congo is intensifying its build-up with high-level opposition to fine-tune its squad.
These matches follow the team’s training camp in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, held in November 2024, where the young Leopards worked on tactical cohesion and match readiness.
DR Congo is set to compete in Group A of the U20 AFCON, which runs from April 26 to May 18.
They will face hosts Ivory Coast, Ghana, Tanzania, and a yet-to-be-confirmed second representative from the UNIFFAC region.
The Leopards are aiming to make a statement in the tournament as they seek to qualify for the FIFA U20 World Cup in Chile.
With only the top four teams securing spots at the global competition, DR Congo will be eager to impress and earn a historic place on the world stage.
