TP Mazembe Bounces Back with Victory, But AS Vita Club Holds Firm at the Top
TP Mazembe has quickly rebounded from their shock defeat to Sanga Balende in the Democratic Republic of Congo championship playoffs, restoring some pride with a dominant 4-0 victory over the same opponents on Matchday 4. Solomon Asante starred with two goals, while Mbwana Aly Samata added another to seal the comprehensive win for the defending champions.
However, despite the impressive result, Patrice Carteron’s side finds themselves still trailing their arch-rivals, AS Vita Club (ASVC), who claimed a 2-0 victory over Don Bosco. With AS Vita Club now sitting atop the table with nine points, TP Mazembe remains two points adrift in second place, with little hope of reclaiming top spot in the immediate future.
Mazembe will need to continue their strong performances and hope for ASVC to slip up if they are to have any chance of regaining the lead in the playoff race.
