Marcel Desailly Seeks to Take Over as Coach of Republic of Congo
Marcel Desailly is determined to continue his managerial ambitions after his candidacy for the coaching position in Malaysia was rejected. The former French international and World Cup winner has set his sights on the vacant head coach role for the Republic of Congo, following the departure of Claude Le Roy last June.
The position has been unfilled since Le Roy’s exit, with Santos Muntubile taking over on an interim basis. Desailly, who earned 116 caps for France and had a distinguished playing career, is among the frontrunners for the job. At 45 years old, Desailly is eager to transition into coaching and take on a new challenge with the Congolese national team.
Several other French candidates are also in the running, including Jean-Michel Cavalli and former Togo coach Didier Six. Desailly had previously been linked with the managerial role in Vietnam, but he is now firmly focused on the opportunity with the Republic of Congo.
With his extensive experience and leadership qualities, Desailly could bring a wealth of knowledge to the Leopards as they look to strengthen their squad for future competitions. The race for the position is set to be an interesting one as the Republic of Congo seeks the right coach to lead them forward.
