DR Congo defender Arthur Masuaku linked with Konyaspor move
Turkish outfit Konyaspor have reportedly expressed strong interest in signing DR Congo international Arthur Masuaku in the current transfer window.
Konyaspor view Masuaku as an ideal addition to their squad and are pushing to secure his signature before the transfer window closes. Discussions are believed to be underway between the club and the player’s representatives as negotiations gather pace.
Masuaku still has one year remaining on his contract with Sunderland, but growing interest from Turkey has fueled speculation that he could leave the English club in search of a new challenge.
A move would mark a return to familiar surroundings for the Congolese international, who previously enjoyed a successful spell with Turkish giants Beşiktaş. During his time in Istanbul, Masuaku established himself as one of the league’s most reliable full-backs, earning praise for his attacking runs, defensive discipline and quality deliveries from the left flank.
His previous experience in the Super Lig is viewed as a major advantage by Konyaspor, who believe the defender would require little time to adapt to the demands of Turkish football.
Masuaku’s wealth of experience is another factor behind the club’s interest. Over the course of his career, he has played at the highest level in France, Greece, England and Turkey, building a reputation as a dependable left-sided defender capable of contributing at both ends of the pitch.
On the international stage, the defender has been an important member of the DR Congo national team, representing the Leopards in several Africa Cup of Nations tournaments and World Cup qualifying campaigns. His leadership and experience continue to make him a valuable asset for the Central African nation.
While neither Sunderland nor Konyaspor has officially commented on the reported negotiations, the Turkish club’s interest appears genuine, with talks said to be progressing behind the scenes.
Should an agreement be reached, Masuaku would complete a return to a league where he previously enjoyed some of the best football of his career, while Konyaspor would secure an experienced defender capable of strengthening their squad for the challenges of the upcoming Super Lig season.
The coming days are expected to be crucial as both parties continue discussions over what could become one of Konyaspor’s notable summer signings.
